Welsh Mystery Castle
Who Am I?

Each month we will be challenging visitors to identify one or more Welsh castles using a series of clues and photographs. You will find the clues below along with links to photographs for each "mystery castle." Castle #1 is a castle of normal difficulty, while Castle #2 is our more difficult "Expert's Challenge". Photographs are posted as separate links for those of you who would like to guess the identities of the castles using only the clues. This month the clue and photograph for mystery castle #2 is provided by Horton Rogers.

You can submit your answers to jltbalt1@comcast.net and I'll let you know if you are correct via return e-mail. I'll also announce the identities of the mystery castles in the following month's newsletter, along with the names of those who were the first to correctly identify each castle.

So what do you get if you guess correctly? Absolutely nothing, except the satisfaction of knowing that you've beaten me at my own game! (after all, life's little victories are important :-) Have fun and Good Luck!

Thanks to contributing editor John Northall for providing this month's mystery castle riddles and photographs!

Clue for Castle #1:

"My lowly neighbour, small and weak,
Made Henry seek a stronger peak.
My rocky site was chosen well,
Through many wars I never fell."

What castle am I and can you explain my clues?"

Clue for Castle #2 (Expert's Challenge):

A lofty perch and ancient form
Could not deflect a Welshman's storm.
A change of war,
A change of men,
A Norman squared me up again!

What castle am I and can you explain my clues?"
