elow you'll find my own castle rating system. Please keep in mind that these rankings are nothing more than my own opinions of only the castles I've visited. Rankings are based on the actual castle remains as well as its situation. In other words, a castle with slight remains that is spectacularly situated may receive high marks. A rating of "no stars" indicates a castle I've not yet seen. In seeking out castles to visit, I would recommend first concentrating on those listed in the two-stars or better range, although almost all Welsh castles offer at least one or two notable features worth exploring. Keep in mind that there are some VERY GOOD castles in the two-star catagory and it would be a great mistake to overlook this grouping.
